BACKGROUND

When Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Central Asia and Southeast Asia in September and October of 2013, he announced the development of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, which has attracted attention from all over the world. Both initiatives fall under China’s broader plan termed as One Belt One Road (OBOR).

WHAT’S THE PURPOSE?

Like the ancient Silk Road, the One Belt One Road will have huge economic advantages for China as well as for other countries that join in. This initiative has the power to shift the center of the world’s economic activity to Asia, as well as provide Asian countries with the resources they need to continue developing. More than just an economic maneuver, President XI Jingping has also made this issue of foreign policy by promising that the creation of OBOR will allow China to offer more economic support to the other countries in South East Asia. Many European nations are currently on board with the plan and have actually expressed their confidence that this new road OBOR will not only have positive effects on Asia, but on the global economy as a whole.
This Association comprises of former and current leaders of Malaysian Government, Departments and Agencies, Captains of Industries representing leading financial institutions, NGOs, Enterprises, and individuals.
